Finding The Garden

Ages and Stages

INFANTS: 6 weeks to 11 months

At The Garden our first job is to get to know you and your child as individuals. The infant program uses on-demand scheduling to assure that each child’s specific needs are net. The staff’s gentle, reassuring voices help establish a “home-away-from-home” for your little one, filled with love and trust. Our consistent & capable staff will become your partners in navigating the sea of developmental changes you will encounter during your child’s first year.

WOBBLERS: 11 months to 18 months

We’ve created a special group for our older infants providing more challenging activities. The children are given the opportunity to explore various areas of their development through gross and fine motor activities, art, sensory experiences, circle time, outside time and much more! Developing self help skills such as using utensils at meals, drinking from a regular cup and communicating needs start children on the path to becoming an independent learner.

TODDLERS: 18 months to 34 months

This classroom is filled with blocks, books, dress-up clothes, dishes and all sorts of things to encourage a child’s imagination. Our Toddlers also love to work with art materials and play in the “touch tub” washing babies or digging in the dirt with trucks. It may look like play, but the children are working very hard at their emotional development, using pretend play to act out their feelings and put into words their curiosity about their ever-changing emotions.

TWO’S: 2 to 3 years

This program is designed to ease the transition from toddler-hood into a preschool setting. Still a nurturing environment, the children are challenged with developmentally appropriate activities to stimulate their progress. Asserting independence is a trait we love in our Terrific Twos! This is where communication skills & social awareness go hand-in-hand.

PRESCHOOL: 3 to 4 years

Welcome to our Montessori influenced classrooms! Montessori lessons provide one-on-one instruction to foster individualized learning. Upon initial observation, what appears to be a very free-formed class is in fact, quite structured and tailored to children’s needs. Montessori provides a wide array of learning outlets for children. Some areas include: practical life, language development, mathematics, science & mechanics.

Our Preschool program provides a gentle introduction into preschool. We encourage a child to explore and play while offering guidance to help develop self-control and positive social skills. An enhanced learning environment, the preschool classroom provides opportunities for: independence, building strong friendships and bonds, expanding attention span and motor skills, developing verbal skills and vocab, and becoming in control of one’s behavior.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN: 4 to 6 years

The Pre-K classroom provides children with the tools and skills needed to move forward in their education. Children participate in math, language, science and social skills activities as well as develop self-confidence, independence and creativity. They learn about the environment through hands-on experiences while learning to treat others with kindness and fairness. And it all looks like so much fun!
